Links Media Corp, 2011
Client Design Coordinator, Present
As a way to expand the company's online products, I researched the concept of creating custom Facebook Apps that would create more interaction on several of our clients' business Facebook pages. I learned how to tap into the Facebook API language in order to create Reveal Tabs. Visitors to a business page would be encouraged to "Like" the page in order to reveal a custom built contest entry form. Creating these Reveal Tabs and basic "About" Tabs required knowledge in PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and the Facebook API. For most of these Facebook Apps, I did not develop the graphics, just the coding.
FSU Directed Independent Study, Spring 2010
Freelance Web Designer and Creative Team member, Present
Working under a directed independent study, the assignment was to make the Shoulder Buddies website more user-friendly, not only for the online customers, but for the administrators as well. Working with my sister Braylin, we recoded the whole site using the PHP framework CodeIgniter. This experience gave me insight on how an application programming interface (API) works and how a model-view-controller (MVC) way of coding functions. Working as a freelance web designer, the assignment was to create a splash screen for the website. Getting rid of the online store, my sister and I put together a purely JavaScript introduction page and kept the website informational as requested. As a Creative Team member of the business, I had the opportunity to further explore what Apple Final Cut Express HD had to offer in the way of creating videos. We created a commercial of the products for YouTube and a convention. In both of these assignments, we did not develop most of the graphics, just the coding.
Directed Independent Study, Spring 2010
The assignment was to update the yourarthere.net website by making it dynamic and adding new features like a member system and support articles. The team consisted of four people: Owen Mundy, Beth Lee, Braylin Morales and me. During this half-year project, we became buddies with CodeIgniter, had some disputes with CSS, chilled with HTML and created a wonderful website for our fellow artists. The main features that I was a part of were the administration dashboard, the member dashboard, the member system, event calendar and support articles.
Processing and Dynamic Web, Fall 2009
The assignment was to create an interactive, dynamic and connected project that used Processing and Flash. I presented it with my sister Braylin at the FSU BFA Warehouse on December 4th, 2009. She created the lolcat translator using PHP, and I created a Flash slideshow and email system. We both collaborated on the webcam effects and saving pictures using Processing.
Dynamic Web, Fall 2009
The assignment was to create a PHP Machine that could receive input and give output to the user. Since I like games, I found a very simple PHP code for Hangman at PHP Classes and examined the code to see how I could edit it to make it my own. Simply put, I ended up with a picture hangman game.
Hobby, Fall 2006
During our downtime, my sister Braylin and I created a fansite and forum for Danny Boyle's sci-fi thriller Sunshine. The film stars Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, Chris Evans and Michelle Yeoh. Our personal goal was to unite fans from around the world and offer the latest information about the British film before, during and after its limited release in the United States. I plan to release a smaller version of the fansite that will not only provide original research and information about the film, but also more history of the fansite, including marketing ads, international recognition and Wikipedia references. To be continued...
